Basketball Courts

Basketball Court Construction

Floor Doctors has evolved into a full-service sport, gym and commercial flooring team. From backyard hoops havens to school gymnasiums to major sporting venues to commercial applications to high-end residential recreational gym flooring. Our complete solutions include sales, custom design, and installation, as well as expert refinishing, sanding, maintenance, and repairs for a wide range of flooring including maple hardwood, VersaCourt tile, and cushioned concrete acrylic.  From half to full courts, indoor and outdoor, we have you covered. Along with personalized basketball court surfaces, we also offer basketball court construction from the ground up. If you’re on a super-tight budget, sticking with just a concrete slab and a hoop may work for you. However, if you’re aiming for the court of your dreams for some serious hoop sessions, then you’ll very likely be planning with us for a quality synthetic sports surface to be installed on top of the concrete slab. Floor Doctors is your top choice for quality and dependable results.

At Floor Doctors, we do it all:

Outdoor basketball courts are subjected to the elements day and night. Debris and grit can lead to surface cracks over time while constant exposure to the elements can cause the system to eventually break down and fade. Floor Doctors offers skilled outdoor basketball court resurfacing to install a new coating on your court for many more years of worry-free use and playability. We are equipped to handle everything from backyard courts to large multi-court installations such as those found in parks and recreation centers. We can also do court conversions, and multi-game courts.  If you have an existing concrete slab to transform into a basketball court, we will perform any necessary repairs to the surface including leveling and crack repair. After repairs, it’s time to revitalize your basketball court with a new, premium-grade basketball court surface.

For indoor basketball court installation, you have two primary surface options: hardwood or a multi-layer acrylic system. Both have their own advantages. Wood flooring such as maple wood delivers a traditional look and feel since the very first game of basketball was played on a maple floor. Maple is well suited to basketball thanks to its tight graining but it does require maintenance. Acrylic basketball courts are easier to maintain and reduce player fatigue with a softer surface, especially if you choose a cushioned basketball court.

Court Sizes:

We offer a number of standard court sizes, but we offer custom court sizes as well.

Small Courts

Our small courts show how even the smallest of areas can accommodate a basketball court. They are ideal for practicing your shot or small games of one-on-one.

Half Courts

Our half courts provide the full basketball experience without all of the running. They include the 3-point line of your choice so you can practice all of your shots.

Full Courts

For commercial applications and homes with large lots/indoor areas, we offer full court sizes in high school, college and professional NBA level court dimensions.

Custom Court Personalization

Type of basketball hoop:

Sizes 48”-72”.  You can select from a plexiglass, glass, adjustable, portable, or a fixed system. We will work with you to choose the safest and most suitable hoop system for your court.   Note: Adjustable systems are quite popular with our customers, as they allow the height of the hoop to be raised as your child grows.

Basketball court accessories:

We carry multiple options for your basketball court including protective padding, goals, ball rebounders, lighting, netting, benches, bleachers, shot clocks, and scoreboards.

Custom Logo personalization:

Customize your court with your favorite team colors or logo. Our skilled painters will work with you to meet any special logo and lettering needs. Before beginning any project, Floor Doctors will provide a custom court layout. All finishing products we use are VOC-compliant. Floor Doctors has extensive experience in the design and installation of multi-purpose solutions for residential & commercial applications. Our experts will work with you to develop a customized solution that meets all of your aesthetic, recreational, & facility requirements and integrates perfectly with your space.

Resurfacing / Refinishing

No one wants to play on a cracked, faded, and deteriorating basketball court. If your court has become an eyesore or its condition affects playability, Floor Doctors can help with reliable basketball court resurfacing. Either applying a new acrylic coating or replacing your existing basketball court system can give you many more years of worry-free use and performance. Floor Doctors specializes in building, installing, refinishing, recoating, and resurfacing basketball courts. Our line of basketball court resurfacing products are available in a huge selection of colors to improve the safety and playability of your court.

Screen & Recoating

Screening and recoating your floor adds value by protecting your investment. It prolongs the length of time before costly sanding and refinishing is required. Sanding and refinishing is a much more in-depth process than screening and recoating. It involves much more time and labor, but it could be worth it if you have deep gouges and damage.

Screening and recoating is a process where a floor is buffed prior to applying a maintenance coat of polyurethane to a floor. The buffing is required for the finish to properly bond. There are a few ways to abrade the floor but the most common method is to screen it with 100 grit screen, this is called a dry-screen. Recoating should be done annually. With the right application, recoating extends the period of time before sanding and refinishing is needed on your floor. This  decreases your lifecycle cost and adds years to the life of the floor.

Cushioned Concrete Acrylic

A standard acrylic surface is typically used outdoors, however, it can be utilized indoors as well. Our acrylic basketball court systems are cost-effective and require minimal maintenance. Acrylic surfaces also feature a non-skid surface that withstands the elements. It has many benefits such as:

  • Low maintenance
  • Performs for many years because it is comprised of special polyurethane material
  • Color quality stays bright
  • Durable so players can enjoy this type of court surface for many years

VersaCourt Tile

VersaCourt is the most innovative basketball court system on the market today. With its patented interlocking system, VersaCourt provides an exceptionally uniform and durable surface, which allows for intensive activity. In addition, our courts are constructed from ¾” shock absorbing tiles that reduce fatigue, which means that players can play better for longer.

The benefits of this type of surface are:

  • Low Maintenance - Easy to clean with broom, hose - or leaf blower
  • Superior Grip - Unique surface profile offers superior grip and traction
  • Up to 50% Cooler - Tile surface stays up to 50% cooler than concrete or asphalt
  • Unmatched Durability - Will stand up to aggressive play and harsh weather conditions
  • Safe - Provides forgiveness for players’ knees, joints, and lower backs
  • Customizable - Unlimited sizes, numerous color options and custom logos
  • Multi-Functional - Add your favorite game lines and designs
  • Backed by Warranty - Superior limited and lifetime warranties

Hardwood Maple Gym Floor

A hardwood floor is the most common type of indoor court flooring. It is typically comprised of maple, and is the standard type of court for the NBA. It is a higher priced surface, averaging about ten to fifteen dollars per square foot. Some of the major advantages of this type of court surface are:

  • Easy maintenance with a simple, high-performance floor coating
  • Excellent ball bounce
  • Customization of colors and team logos
  • Shock absorption during game play
  • Court uniformity
  • Wood floor installations should last for 50 years with proper maintenance and care.  This includes regular cleaning, repairing any damages before they become detrimental to your budget or hazardous to your colleagues, and making sure the surface remains dry and away from prolonged moisture. Paired with sanding and refinishing every 8-10 years, screening and recoating every 6 months to 1 year will keep your hardwood flooring in tip top shape.
